Grapeskins
Grapeskins is a deep, earthy wine shade that sits somewhere between plum and burgundy. It carries the rich tone of crushed grape skins after pressing—dark, slightly dusty, and full of natural depth. The colour has a gentle warmth running through it, with subtle brown and berry undertones that keep it grounded rather than bright.
In the skein, Grapeskins shows soft tonal shifts that move from deeper mulberry shadows into lighter, rosy-plum highlights where the light catches the twist of the yarn. This variation gives the colour a lived-in, organic quality that works beautifully in both textured knitting and simple stockinette.
It’s a sophisticated shade that pairs well with soft greys, warm neutrals, olive greens, and muted pinks. Used on its own it creates a rich, elegant fabric; combined with other colours it adds depth and a touch of quiet drama.
Grapeskins is a colour that feels both natural and indulgent — like the final traces of autumn fruit left on the vine. 🍇
Weight & Length
4 ply, sock or fingering yarn. 100 gms gives you 400 metres recommended needle size is 2.25 - 2.5 for socks, and up to 3.0 for other items.
Fibre
Darjeeling yarn: 85% Merino, 15% Nylon
Beautifully soft and just the right amount of nylon for a pair of socks. This also makes a gorgeous shawl or other wearable object.
It is recommended that you hand wash in cool to luke warm water with a wool wash to prevent dissociating. Slight bleeding may occur on more intense colours but should not effect the final colour. The merino is superwash but the dyes are not. (However, I'm not hand washing my socks so there!)
