Tamarind Sunset is a rich, glowing orange inspired by the African sunset — the kind of colour that seems to intensify as the sun sinks towards the horizon. It has a warm, slightly earthy depth beneath its brilliant orange surface, reminiscent of the changing light across the savannah at the end of a long safari day.

There’s something wonderfully vivid about this shade without it becoming overly bright — a sun-baked orange with touches of russet and red that gives the colour plenty of depth. A little piece of an African sunset, captured in yarn.

Echinacea

Echinacea is a beautifully smooth, silky laceweight yarn with a soft handle and lovely drape. The blend of 70% mulberry silk and 30% alpaca gives it a subtle lustre and a soft, fluid quality that makes it particularly lovely for lace knitting and lightweight projects.

With 750 metres per 100 grams, Echinacea offers plenty of yardage for larger lace projects and works beautifully for shawls, wraps and fine garments where drape and a smooth finish are important.

For lace knitting, a larger needle can be used to create a more open fabric and enhance the drape.

• Hook: 2.5–3.5mm

• For fine lacework, choose a smaller hook; a larger hook can be used for a more open, fluid fabric.

Care

Echinacea should be treated gently to preserve the silk and alpaca fibres.

Hand wash in cool water using a mild wool or fibre wash. Do not agitate, wring or rub. Gently squeeze out excess water and roll in a towel before reshaping and drying flat away from direct heat and sunlight.

As with all hand-dyed yarns, colour may soften slightly with washing. We recommend washing finished garments separately the first time.
