Thank you—that's much softer than I had imagined from the name. Rather than rich ochres and browns, this colour has a quiet, understated elegance with cool silver-grey tones.
Here's a revised description that better reflects the skein:
The African Silk Moth #1
Soft and understated, The African Silk Moth #1 captures the silvery beauty found on the wings of the African silk moth. Gentle layers of pale silver, misty grey and cool pearl create a colourway that is calm, luminous and full of subtle variation. Delicate tonal shifts move between soft dove grey and the faintest whisper of icy blue, giving the yarn beautiful depth without overpowering a project.
Elegant in its simplicity, this versatile neutral works beautifully on its own for timeless garments and accessories or paired with deeper charcoals, rich forest greens, warm ochres or muted purples. The gentle tonal changes highlight lace, cables and textured stitches while allowing intricate patterns to shine.
A quiet, sophisticated colourway inspired by one of nature's most remarkable silk producers. pairs effortlessly with natural neutrals, deep greens, warm browns and muted golds, making it a versatile choice for projects inspired by the colours of the natural world.
Weight & Length
4 ply, sock or fingering yarn. 100 gms gives you 400 metres
Fibre
Darjeeling yarn: 80% Merino, 20% Nylon
Beautifully soft and just the right amount of nylon for a pair of socks. This also makes a gorgeous shawl or other wearable object.
It is recommended that you hand wash in cool to lukewarm water with a wool wash to prevent dissociating. Slight bleeding may occur but should not affect the final colour. The merino is superwash but the dyes not. (However, I'm not hand washing my socks so there!)
