Blackcurrant OB - on Silk and Mohair - Shui Yun, 2 ply/laceweight

Blackcurrant is a deep, saturated purple that borders on the edge of black, yet reveals its true colour in the light. At first glance it reads as a rich, inky shade — dramatic and grounding — but look closer and you’ll see layers of dark berry, plum skin and a hint of wine-toned warmth running through the skein.

There’s a quiet intensity to this colour. It carries the depth of crushed blackcurrants and late-season fruit, with subtle tonal shifts that move between aubergine and near-midnight violet. The darker areas give it weight and sophistication, while the softer purple undertones keep it unmistakably in the berry family.

Blackcurrant works beautifully as a statement neutral — strong enough to stand alone in garments, yet equally striking paired with blush pinks, smoky greys, deep teals or antique golds. It’s moody without being flat, dark without losing dimension, and endlessly wearable.

This batch of Shui Yun has a slightly drier hand than our usual cloud-soft halo, offering a more defined texture and gentle structure. The firm silk core gives strength and subtle sheen, while the mohair creates a light, refined haze rather than a soft fluff.

Hand wash gently in cool water. Dry flat.

It is highly recommended that you hand wash in cool to lukewarm water with a special silk detergent. Slight bleeding may occur but should not effect the final colour.
