Prismatic Dawn – Kaleidoscope MKAL Yarn Kit

 

Prismatic Dawn is Green Tea Yarns’ only colourway for Stephen West’s Kaleidoscope Mystery Knit Along, bringing together a rich mix of purples, berry tones and vivid pops of pink, orange and gold. The image is an AI produced image to give an idea of how the colours work together - not Stephen's shawl.

The palette starts with Percy’s Purple, a deep blue-toned purple, and moves through golden yellow, hot pink and glowing orange before opening into a beautiful range of lilac, purple and plum shades, finishing with a deep berry. With plenty of purple threaded throughout the palette, the colours are designed to create strong contrast and interesting shifts as the geometric sections of the shawl take shape.

This is a bold, jewel-toned combination with enough variation between the colours to let the kaleidoscopic patterning really shine.

Jasmine 4 Ply – Merino & Silk Yarn

Jasmine is a beautifully balanced blend of 50% merino wool and 50% mulberry silk, combining the softness of merino with the natural lustre and drape of silk. This non-superwash 4 ply yarn has a smooth feel and a gentle sheen that brings depth and definition to hand-dyed colours.

With 400 metres per 100g, Jasmine is well suited to shawls, wraps, lightweight garments and colourwork projects. The combination of merino and silk creates a yarn that is lovely to work with, offering softness, drape and a subtle lustre that complements both solid colourways and multi-colour designs.

Jasmine was the yarn selected for the Prismatic Dawn kits, supplied as eight 50g skeins. Each skein provides 200 metres, giving the complete kit a total of 400g and 1,600 metres of yarn — ideal for projects that explore colour transitions and combinations.

Knitting and crochet

  • Suggested knitting needles: 2.5–3.5mm

  • Suggested crochet hook: 2.5–3.5mm

  • Typical knitting gauge: Approximately 28–32 stitches per 10cm over stocking stitch.

Needle and hook sizes are suggestions only. Your gauge will vary depending on your tension and chosen stitch pattern, so a swatch is recommended before starting your project.

Care instructions

Hand wash gently in cool water using a wool-safe detergent. Avoid rubbing, wringing or agitation, as the non-superwash merino can felt if handled roughly. Rinse carefully, gently squeeze out excess water and dry flat away from direct sunlight.

A note on hand-dyed yarn

Each skein is individually hand dyed in small batches, so subtle variations in colour are a natural part of the process. For larger projects, alternating skeins every few rows can help blend any differences between skeins.
