Winter’s Petrol is a deep, smoky petrol blue with a beautifully muted quality. Sitting somewhere between blue, teal and charcoal, it has a cool, stormy depth that changes subtly with the light. The grey undertones soften the intensity of the blue, giving it a worn-in, wintery character rather than a bright or saturated feel. A versatile shade for sweaters, shawls and accessories, Winter’s Petrol pairs particularly well with soft greys, charcoal, silver, cream and other deep, moody blues.
Gyrokuro
3 ply / Heavy Laceweight
300m / 50g
64% Kid Mohair · 23% Silk · 3% Superwash Merino · 10% Sequins
Gyrokuro is a soft, airy mohair and silk yarn with a beautiful, understated sparkle. The kid mohair creates a fine, soft halo, while silk adds drape and smoothness. Small sequins are spun through the yarn to give a subtle glimmer that catches the light without becoming overly sparkly.
At 300 metres per 50g, Gyrokuro is a 3 ply / heavy laceweight yarn. It can be knitted or crocheted on its own for light, airy fabrics, but it is particularly lovely carried along with another yarn. Used this way, Gyrokuro adds a soft mohair halo, a little extra dimension and its characteristic subtle sparkle, without obscuring the colour or character of the companion yarn.
It works especially well with 4 ply/fingering and sportweight yarns, adding interest to simple stitches as well as more textured designs. Try it with a smooth merino, silk or wool blend when you want to introduce a little softness and sparkle without changing the overall character of the project too dramatically.
